3M ClearBra Worth it on a lease?

I've had my new 07 NHB TSX for less then a week now and it already has 2 small chips in the paint. I've read the threads here about how bad Honda's paint is, and after this you'll get no argument from me. So I started looking at the 3m clearbra protection. The dealer quoted me $1400 but the guy the dealer calls to do the job quoted me $450-$600.

My question is if this is worth it on a 36m lease? The dealer told me that I would only be charged for dings larger then a quarter. If I buy up some paint pens and use them when small dings appear that may get me through the 3 years much cheaper then with the 3M protection. Thoughts?

Thanks - John

I dont see the point of doing anything to a lease car. I personaly think its not worth it unless you are thinking of buying the car after the lease.

Yeah i would just leave the lease car as stock since it's not even your car. a lease car is like well barrowed car, you don't own it. Might as well leave it as is.

Well my initial reasons were that I didn't want the car looking like swiss cheese later in the lease and that if the cost of the 3M protection is less then what the lease company may charge me for dings.

However while I haven't tested the paint pens yet, I'd assume that may solve both problems for cheaper.

Warder, I'm in on a lease... I put the 3M on the hood and drivers/passengers side mirrors, but I got a great deal on it (friend of the family knows the guys at the company that does it for the dealerships in my area).

My main reason is...I *may* buy out the car at the end, but I definitely don't want to be looking at (A) paint chips on the PWP hood (B) rust on the PWP hood.

Same here. I'm considering the 3M clear bra because I'm considering buying the car after the lease. I'm also considering rustproofing (oil treatment).

If I weren't thinking of keeping the car post-lease, I wouldn't consider putting any money on this kind of protection. You will not be charged for the stone chips by the lease company (they may try, but you're not going to pay them)...

If you're pretty sure you won't keep the car, use the touch up paints. That's how we all survived anyways, before the clear bras.

I was quoted $250 from a reputable place that also does window tinting here.

how much does it cost to repaint the front end? I would compare that with the cost of the bra. If you plan on getting a kit later then that would factor into the decision.

since everyone knows how crappy the paint is, why protect it? Just let it get chipped and repaint the bumper and the hood in a 3-4 years if you really want. It will be either same price as the bra plus or maybe slightly more. Btw, paint chips and door dings don't really affect resale value from my own experience.

The only thing I recommend you to protect are the fog lights.
