2005 vs. 2004??

Anyone have experience with both MY's and have any thoughts? I've been reading a lot about rattles in the '04, wondered if they fixed it in the '05? I'm on the verge of making the new car plunge and just wanted to hear some '05 thoughts...thanks.

I dont think they resolved the rattles in 05, however they have TB's for most of the rattles that can be fixed after purchase.

The rattles are minor problems and not everyone gets them. The 2005 MY car has more features than th 2004 MY. It's just a matter of which you prefer. I would imagine that there aren't that many 2004s left to be had though.

I can only give perspecitve from the '05 side, but so far (after 3000 miles) I have only had one rattle. It started at about the 300 mile mark and disappeared after about the 500-600 mile mark. As far as i can tell, it was over the passanger side B-Pillar, right next to the front seat. I was never really able to isolate it, but it went away and I haven't heard it since. I chalk it up to the car "settling in." Of course, this is just one person's experience, and I can't speak for everyone. remember, you can always turn the radio up and drown out the rattles.

I have the rattle next to the seat to. It turns out the seat belt connector was touching the plastic panel and rattling. It seems to get stuck between the plastic and the seat and does this.

I have an 05, and i had the rearview mirror rattle, but that went away. I still have the infamouse winshield sqeek, but i just turn up the radio. I will get it fixed when another bigger issue comes up.

My opinions on the options that come with the 04..

XM radio.. Well xm radios itself doesnt seem that great to me. but that is pesonal preference. But if i did like it, and i knew what i know now, i would get an aftermarket system. The XM radio that comes with the 05 tsx sucks. The name of the whole song does not show up. Also the method of changing the channels on it is not very intuative. I also think it is stupid the preset buttons dont show the name of the station.

heated sideview mirrors.. Well in cali they are not used, but perhaps in another colder area.

Power passenger seat.. I guess it is a good perk, but ive never used it.

beeping alarm.. This is the stupidest sound thing i have ever heard.. I would much rather have a horn beep instead. The beep that comes from my car sounds like the popcorn is done in the microwave. It is not a chirp like that of a good car alarm.. WASTE OF $$$$

Happy I got an '05

I'm really glad I got an '05.
I like the XM radio a lot--although I've just had teh car 2 days. I agree that the display, etc., is not perfect. But it's basically a no-cost goodie with the '05 AND integrated into the navi/audio system. My wife is very happy that we have the power passenger seat. The illuminated steering wheel controls are also another good thing. And it will be worth more IF I trade it in when the RDX comes out.

I miss my TSX

I totaled my my baby last week. I was going to bite the bulllet and pay for the new TL (integrated xm). Now if I can get on TSX I probably will just save the 4-5 g's and get a 05 TSX. I had my XM digitally wired in my car and can not go without XM any more.

Is the volume level of XM in the 05 same as the CD? Thanks for any answers guys.

I have an 05 and have almost 1000 miles on it. I have a rattle somewhere on the passenger side that hasn't gone away yet. I need to get the alignment fixed so they are going to look at the problem spots for rattles then. I think the consensus is that 04 or 05, you might get some rattles.

I really like XM radio, especially the way it is so well integrated into the nav screen. A take the steering wheel control lighting for granted since I never drove an 04 at night, but I'm sure it's a nice improvement.

Unless you get a significantly cheaper price for an 04 (which I doubt...I got a pretty good deal on the 05 and it seems others are too), I say go with the 05. And of course resale value will be better (I can't imagine selling mine anytime soon though)

no, i believe XM is significantly lower than the CD..

Also I dont like the fact you have to scroll through all the channels to get to one..

I know you can use voice command, but a key pad would be nice.

Basically, there is no difference between 04 and 05 if you are driving alone, during the day, with nice weather, and listening to a CD.

somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but the XM on the '05 takes the ports needed to install an ice-link or any sort of auxiliary adapter.

I asked this in the audio section, but never got a response:

What is the status of XM on the 05 TSX in Canada? Is the receiver in the car and you just activate it giving a US address? Or did they remove it for our market? If they did remove it, what is necessary to get it put in? Wiring harness readily accessible? Online parts suppliers?

So many questions.....

If I am barking up the wrong tree here, can anybody suggest a forum that has a more active Canadian section?

thanks

There's a huge number of Canadians here, no need to go anywhere else.

XM is not available on CDN spec TSXs. The center console is the same as the 04 model so you don't get the cool XM buttons like they do in the US. It won't be a cheap upgrade to get the USDM spec console installed in your car. Best bet is to just get a SNHOND adapter for the aux-in and use an aftermarket XM receiver.

Can someone post pictures of XM in the non-Navi '05?
I have the 04' and would love to install XM in our '04.....I would have leased an '05 (I have Sirius now and not having SAT radio is killing us in the TSX) but we got a killer deal on a Demo '04 it came with the Acura Cert. Used Warranty and a big drop in price. So I'm happy but I do miss SAT radio and I'm trying to install an OE type SAT radio in the car.

But other then XM radio, I'm not sure I care we have an '04 vs. '05....I'd get the one you get the better deal on. Seeing that TSX are not common and an Acura -- I think in 5 years the '04 vs. '05 isn't going to matter much in resale as much as mileage will.

I think it's neat we have an '04, just think from now on only the first year made will ever have the non-power passenger seat The power passenger seat will be a common ho hum feature And we don't have the Zit on the roof for XM.....the TSX has the XM zit thing right?

Thanks Dan.

Does this console situation still apply if I get an 05 with Navi?

Yes, the console for the CDN 05 navi is the same as the 04 navi in the US, therefore no XM integration.
