2005 TSX impressions by a 2004 TSX driver

Our loaner while the 04 is in for service is an identical 05 - CG, 5AT, Nav, etc.

So here are my impressions:

1) While almost everything is the same, I don't think the black buttons on the steering wheel look as good as the silver, and the "CATEGORY" silkscreen on the HU under the "SEEK-SCAN" buttons looks a bit of an afterthought.

2) The carpet is NOT as nice. Looks like Accord carpet, with a coarser weave. Also, it's not a good color match to the interior - too much green in it.

3) The driver's seat lumbar support adjustment in the 05 kicks ass over the 04. At max it was very nice, where the 04 has to be at max just to not totally suck.

4) The turn-signal clicker now is an electronic imitation of an old mechanical clicker sound. Not good news or bad news, just different.

5) The alphanumeric display on top of the dash has much skinnier segments, and the temp display is now squeezed horizontally to fit in the XM info. Harder to read, a bit. The text looks OK, but isn't there often (when the XM info is on the Nav screen it's not on the top display) but the temp numerals, which are almost always there, are funky-looking.

6) No rattles or buzzes heard.

Thats one thing that annoys the hell out of me that I don't think has ever been mentioned.

Don't know how it is on the 04, but the glove box lever on the 05 is the one thing on the car that feels really cheap to me, as if it's been grafted on from a low-end Daewoo. It is odd because so much else in the car has the look and feel of high quality. The glove box lever feels like it's going to snap whenever I reach over and open it from the driver's seat. It is really out of place on an otherwise fine car.

Don't worry, the 05s have some. I had the windshield rattle, have the passenger door speaker rattle, and have something coming from the rear which I believe to be the torsion bars. Oh well, will get them fixed eventually.

had a rattle. went away when someone ran over the car. the XM can display son/artist info up above in that little cluster deal if you press the display button. the black buttons on the steering wheel are backlit, passenger has power seats!!.. I read somewhere the glass on the 05 is different, has better UV protection. BIGGEST FLAW ON 2005 no Hondata yet. which i guess means the computer is different

I was assuming that the computer was different too, otherwise the same reflash would have worked for 05. But people here keep telling me that there are 0 changes to the engine and ECU.

Funny, I found the buttons on the 04 to look chincy and was one of the reasons I bought an '05.

I hate lumbar support at all and keep it all the way off, so either year works for me.
