06 auto -manual shift mode - 1st to 2nd gear?
I have searched for this issue with no success. I seem to remember someone else mentioning this but I just want to confirm if this is normal. When I switch my mode from D to manual shift and I start in 1st gear and bring it up to red line and switch to 2nd gear, I feel a jerk or thump when it switches. It only happens when I do this at high revs. Manual shift under redline is very smooth. Is this normal?

I never push mine to redline when in the manny mode, at least for 1st. 1st I switch out of gear at like 6-10 mph and then the others you can, if you choose, push it harder. 1st is just an early gear. In manual cars where I don't really sit in first for long either and I usually switch straight to 2nd in that range, but base it off of rpms too. Even some ppl skip 1st and go right into 2nd in manual from what I've seen. I know the car even auto shifts you to first from 2nd when stopping.

yea ive felt the jerk a couple times and it happens exactly when i shift at redline, meaning it actualy did bounce of the rev limiter once and there was fuel cutoff, and then you get power again in second giving you the jerk. I dont think its a transmission problem, it just happens when you hit of the rev limiter and switch gear.

When I say I hit redline, I barely do that. I just touch the red area and switch. Its a thump or jerk when it switches. When I do switch, the engine is still pulling strong. Therefore, I doubt its the fuel cutoff. I have felt the cutoff before and you really have to be in the red before that happens and it drops in hp. This is not a drop but a noticable switch unlike the regular switch.

yea then it might be something else...cuz when i felt the jerk it was when the needle was at 7,500rpms which is not really the redline but the needle cannot keep up with how fast the engine revs.....but if youre getting the jerk upon barely going in to the red area then it might be something else.

I believe it is normal. I have the same year and it does the same thing. For me; it's enough to make me notice, it's just not as quick of a shift as we would like it to be. And yes, the manual shift is much smoother at redline.

Do you shift after you hit redline, or before? It takes a second or two for the AT to shift, and unless you take your foot off the gas right away you might still be revving to the fuel cutoff point. The next time it happens, watch the tach carefully and see if you're past redline when you feel the shudder.
Does it happen if you shift at 6800-6900 RPMs?
I hit the cutoff point myself a few times, but I've since figured out exactly where I need to hit the upshift to bring it to redline without hitting the cutoff point.
If you're still having trouble, there's nothing better you can do than to get a service advisor to ride along with you and observe the problem.
