I do not own either of these cars but I have driven both of them exactly once (the Maxima is a 2002 SE) and I carpool with the guy who owns the Maxima so I ride in it frequently. So I am certainly not an expert on either car but here goes:
Power: Huge edge to the Maxima. I don't know the Maxima's exact HP but it's well over 200 and it's a V6. You don't have to rev it like a TSX to get brisk acceleration and you can step on the pedal at almost any RPM in any gear and it will scoot ahead quite well. Pretty fair amount of torque steer under firm acceleration though.
Handling: Tough for me to say because I didn't really push either car but I would guess that the Maxima, with its bigger size, would not feel as sporty as the TSX. I also thought that the TSX felt a bit firmer than the Maxima with a slightly less comfortable ride.
Transmission: Big edge to the TSX. I drove 6 MT's in both cars and the TSX's is much better. Shorter throws and a much more precise, positive feel to the shifter. Shorter gearing in the TSX means more revs at highway speeds. I think the Maxima turns around 2100 rpm at 60 mph in 6th gear.
Space: About equal in the front, much more room in the Maxima in back.
Features and Options: I'm not sure exactly what is available on the Maxima but my friend's has a single-disc CD player w/cassette rather than a 6-disc changer, no dual-zone climate control, no ESC or traction control, no leather or heated seats, no heated side mirrors, no power seats, no XM, no moonroof. It does have xenons, auto up/down on all windows, outside temp gauge, and some kind of trip computer even though it doesn't have nav.
I will also say that the Maxima is pretty quiet and I have never heard a single rattle even though I ride 60 miles in it every other day.

Well not much to compare. Engine Wise the Maxima kills the TSX. Everytime my friend and i race he pulls up about 3 car lengths, But then again i have an 5AT which is slower than the 6MT i presume. Interior the TSX dominates the the Maxima due to the navigation, ambient lighting, and our Guage cluster is nicer. All in all interior of TSX>Maxima, Engine: Maxima>TSX. Exterior Design: IMO TSX>Maxima.

wow
thanks for all your help
the 01 Max got 220 HP and lots of torque
the TSX does look nicer bout inside and out
the Maxima does have quicker acceleration but IMO, the TSX is smoother
does anyone know how i can increase the torque in the TSX?
Thank you all for the help

a 6mt TSX should be able to keep up with a 2001 maxima straight line (more or less). In the twisties the TSX should have it beat.
But the maxima is fugly IMO.
