NEED EVERYBODYS ATTENTION FOR 1st GEN AND ALL OTHERS TO HELP

okay I've been doing a lot of research, calling and measuring for ttrying to match coilovers on our first gens. The 1994 to 1997 Honda accord has the same exact rear strut, spring and mount also the fork at the bottom. the coilover for the rear will work and that is coming from Megan Racing confirming that it will. The front coilovers will not fit at the top because the mounts wont go in being about half an inch to short. I've talked with Megan racing and importuners.com which I've been buying my parts from and helped fix the problem with using the 2.5 lowering springs for the 3.2l......they thought it would work including eibachbut it didn't that's why some of you have probably seen that on the net.....not anymore i have been trying to correct that for them.because IM trying to but a set of coilovers. if you guys go to importuners.com and type in your car for a 96 97 Acura tl nothing will show for the 3.2 l but if you type 98 Acura tl 3.2 you'll see the coilovers but i did call them and informed them that those wouldn't work because the 96 to 98 rear strut has a for not bushing therefore it wouldn't connect but if you use the Honda accord it is a fork and will hook to the bushing that is already mounted into the hub assembly. OKAYYYYYYOKAYYYYYY now IM trying to find any car from Honda or Acura that might have a the front coilovers or even stock strut assembly fit or be the exact fit. i called Honda and

Acura and they said they don't do that......i tried matching the part numbers

but they didn't match. Right now only the Honda accord MEGAN RACING EZ STREET

coilover for the rear suspension on the Honda accord work! except for the front. now what IM trying to do is find a compatible front coilovers or even stock front strut assembly that will fit the 96 to 98 Acura tl 3.2l. i spokewith the main supervisor of importuners and they said i would be able to speacial or it if i could find a compatible front suspension for the same price the EZ STRET COILOVERS. but if there isn't one Megan racing said they will put in a request for this particular car for such a suspension and chassis. just trying to get things going because i know a lot of you on here would be interested in it.

Thanks for this info! I just picked up a 1998 tl 3.2 with 150k miles and wanted to put on new shocks/struts/coilovers or whatever you call them. I want to maintain luxury ride but tighten her up some and improve handling. I also intend to replace stock rims with 17 or 18's and lower car some (how much is best?). What are my best options? I've been driving SUVs for 13 yrs now and feel like a total beginner trying to upgrade this sedan. Any and all advice will be appreciated!

THANK YOU! If this all works out 1997tl-p please post brands and part numbers. I went for the GroundControl adjustable coilovers. But they are on backorder and there is a possibility I won’t be getting them. So good luck and again keep us posted!

Personally I am planning on lowing my Tl 1.5" front 1" rear. If you go to much lower you will have to roll the fenders. Going so that I need to role fenders isn't my cup of tea.

x-lax, if you only lower 1.5/1.0, do you still need camber adjustments? And if I move up to 17X7.5 rims, does that make a difference?

Lowing only 1.5/1.0 is for pussies like me. But you get to avoid a lot of expense and practical headaches on the road.

You might need realignment, but you shouldn't need a camber kit... I went with the Hollander 71733 17X8 wheels. I got them new on e-bay. Since I have not lowered the car yet I have no idea how much rubbing will take place.

i'm almost certain the front suspension on a TL is the same as a Legend's front suspension. i can tell you that everything except the strut is for sure the same as the Legend, because i've looked very closely at a '98 TL and everything was identical to the Legend. however, at the time i had access to this '98, i did not look closely at the strut itself, and by the time i decided to do that, the TL was gone from the yard. i did look at the fork, and i can also confirm that the fork fits the Legend LCA because the LCAs on both are identical. i don't know about the gas cartridge, springs, or top hats, but i wouldn't be at all surprised if they are the same.

one big difference with the strut mounts on the top on a Legend (and prob 1G TL) vs. most of the later models i've seen is that the Legend only has 3 mounting studs, whereas a 2G TL (for example) has 5 (or 6), as do the RLs (not sure about 1G RL).

there's a guy who lives a few blocks from me who has a 1G TL. i'm planning to go over to his house this weekend and see if he will let me check out his front struts to see if they are a match for those in a Legend. if so, then you have your answer.

i can also tell you that if you go to shox.com and look at their lowering kit options, the Legend year range is listed as 91-97 and the TL ranges are 99-03, 04-08, and 09- , which to me means they are lumping 1G TLs in with Legends, which indicates that at least the front suspensions are the same.

SO...your options are most likely the same as those for a Legend, which includes GC and JIC for coilovers, Suspension Techniques, Eibach, Vogtland, and H&R for lowering springs, and Koni (plus some others, i'm sure) for shocks.
