Windsheild Wipers Periodically Stop Working

I have a 1996 3.2tl which just started having issues with its windsheild wipers. It started one day when I went to turn on the windsheild wipers but the did not work. I tried all of the different setting, but nothing worked. I checked the fuse and it was not blown. They never turned on for the rest of the day. A few days later it rained again, but this time they worked fine. Then, the next time it rained tehy didn't work again. I checked the fuse and it was still not blown... Has this happened to anybody else? Does anybody know how to fix this?

Thanks!

Jason

Wiper Issue..

Hi Jason -

Was wondering if you ever found out what was wrong with your wipers. I have a 1996 2.5tl with the same issues. Only difference is my pulse and fast speeds do not work at all. Very frustrating as you never know it they will work from one day to the next. I have been told it could be either the motor or the switch, but its hard to know which one to fix first. Any other info you have received, please pass it along.

Thanks!

In my case, my fast operation didn't work but both the intermittant and slow operations worked...for a few months. The wipers go slower and slower by the day then one day, when it was pouring out, my wipers decided to go very slow and it started "skipping" as if it was losing it and bam...it stopped at mid-cycle. So I went to Autozone and bought an OEM refurbed motor and replaced it that night. Everything worked extremely well and move very fast, even in slow position. So $80 was a great investment for me.

First Respone

Jo anne and Bill,

Thank you both for your posts.

Unfortunately I do not have any updates. I spoke with Acura about this and was told the same thing. They said that I could bring the car in and they would try to diagnose it, but I have a feeling that doing so would be rather expensive. So, I think I am going to try to replace the wiper motor myself.

Bill, how difficult was it to replace the wiper motor? Any tips you might have would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Jason
