Hello. I have a 1996 Acura 3.2 TL. I have only the factory alarm installed and use the remote lock / unlock. When locking the doors, this arms the alarm automatically; unlocking the doors disarms the alarm. I think it works as it is supposed to.

My question is this -- is there a way to make the alarm arm / disarm cause one of the horns to chirp on our cars without re-wiring? Is this a possible feature?

I talked to the dealership guy and he said this is a silent arm / disarm.

 

I have a 97 2.5TL and I checked the owner's manual. It does not describe any means of modifying the alarm system ready. Only indication mentioned is flashing of the door security LED on driver's door. Not sure if the premium system w/ remote key entry is different, but may be. Check your owner's manual carefully.

my 98 3.2 didn't chirp either... it was only a visual confirmation of arm/disarm via the parking lights flashing... if you want an audio chirp confirmation via maybe the horn, you are going to have to wire the arm/disarm signal from the oem alarm to the horn yourself...

 

Realistically you'll need an aftermarket kit to do what you want.
