loss of power..--> CEL; vibration
About two weeks ago I bought a 97 3.2 TL with 87k miles. I have gone roughly 1k miles since then ( lot of highway to work). Last night on my way home and this morning I noticed the engine felt noticably weak....then about 8 miles into my commute this morning I got a CEL... Havent had a chance to have somebody read the code yet....I know thats the best first step. But I cant think of why I would feel a sudden loss in power then the light.
also i have noticed a very slight vibration from the engine.... best felt sitting still in park.... only between 1300-1400 rpms. no noises.... extremely quiet engine.. just that vibration.

Well I ran the code scanner and it said two codes. But when I went between the two codes they were the same thing. So who knows. First time using it, might have done something stupid.
Anyway. the code(s) : P0401 which read something like " EGR flow insufficient"
I reset it and cleared it, then drove it about 10-15 miles and it didnt come back on yet. I could hear a slight clicking noise (from EGR area) when reving the engine from under the hood at little over 1k rpm last night....I also poked and prodded at the vacuum lines around it last night to make sure all were attached.
think this is a " I need a new EGR valve " problem; or a " I have a vacuum issue" problem? Thanks
And none of this explains the weird vibration @1400 rpm in park or nuetral... (let me rephrase... always a vibration at that rpm, best felt at stand still)

It's just the EGR pipe being caked up with sludge. If it weren't such a pain to remove, I'd clean my own, hehe. BTW, I hate our 4th gear and how damned tall it is. After 160KM/h it's a bitch to reach 175. After 180, though, no worries until 213KM/h, .

ok, so the vibration is just a cause of the ECR being old and dirty..... maybe i'll look into changing that soon. I need to read up on a DIY for the timing belt, water pump, and whatever else may be recomended to do while Im in there. Its about time Since I dont have any records and its riding on almost 90k miles. Was a lease vehichle all its life so I know it has been kept up to date b/c that is a requirement when leasing a vehicle I think.
