Hey guys,
i have been having problems with smoke. i just got a tune up and its died down. its only bad in the morning(prolly from dew) but my mechanic told me it could be the head gasket. i was wondering how much it would cost to rebuild the engine...and do i need to rebuild the tranny too. What parts and how much would it cost for a rebuild....or Should a i Sell Sell Sell!

the trans is good as long as you dont cook it.. but it would be around 1000 from the dealer to do a head gasket.. if you have the money for a new engine then you might as well try fixing it yourself. put the car in your garage and dont drive it, until your done, could take a while, but it doesnt seem like the hardest thing in the world to do.. i would list it online for sale anyways. you can always say no but if the offers good you might be able to jump into a different acura with maybe lower miles and newer use the money you would of used to rebuild it on maintenance and mods...

 

i had a bad head gasket.. but if its just smoke and thats all i personally wouldnt worry, but if it starts shaking alot or rough starts, overheating.. i would save a headache and alot of $$ but switching cars, or you could do what i did. get a engine swap get the tranny looked at and serviced and if youve kept up on maintenance and replacing old parts you pretty much got a new car good for atleast 100k
