Unhappy car accident.. rotors and bumper

hey guys so this morning i was cut off then had to stop very quickly.. end result i rear ended the guy.. his car was okay and my from bumper is all scratched and chipping now, but its intact. i blame it on my rotors, they are all warped i beleive 200k on them so i went a head and ordered F+R ceramic coated slotted and drilled rotors with ceramic pads for $200. ive never replaced the rotors on a car. is it just a bolt on and go replacement or are there any special things i need to know? my front bumper looks like crap now and my back bumper has a bald spot also.. also does anyone know what stores sell that spray on tint for tail lights, etc..? and please if anyone has suggestions on my bumpers i need your !! thanks in advance i know you guys can help me out

I know rotors on 2.5 are difficult to replace. They are pressed in. so you need special tool to remove them.
I had mine checked and I saw the guy at Kaufman tires put in wd-40 type of thing and it took two of them to remove the rotor with some special tool and brutal force.

yeah the front calipers u can use a c clamp to press them. on the rear you cant the piston you have to screw it back in. there is a tool for that. the front rotors you have to take them to a shop to get them pressed out and sometimes the bearing break mine did so i replaced them. the rear rotors pop of when you take of the screws..

its DIY, just takes a little longer. You need a hub puller for the front rotors. Get a tub of multipurpose grease, regular tools, axle nut socket, big breaker bar(if you don't have air tools), and a torque wrench.

You need a "ball joint lifter" (google search and look at Amazon tool). I modified mine slightly by enlarging the fork opening by 2-4mm to fit the lower ball joint on TL. Breaking ball joint requires tightening, and then hammering next to ball joint on lower arm. Brute force tightening will damage the ball joint lifter bolt threads.

Remaining tools are in most DIY'rs box. PM your email address to me and I'll email a procedure I pulled off a Wagner brakes newsletter several years back. I was unable to find w/ a google today.

It's a bit of bother, but I did six of them on 3 cars (Accord, Acura CL, and Acura TL) last year w/o terrible difficulties. I may have a writeup of my experience on this site (don't remember for sure).

good luck

theres an easier way to pop the lower ball joint out of the the LCA. remove axle nut. jack the car up, put it on jack stands. remove the nut on the ball joint, stick the jack under the LCA and jack it up. as you jack it up the gap between the spindle and the lca gets larger, jack it up until the lower control arm is above parallel. put a 13-14mm deep socket in between that gap. drop the jack. If it doesn't pop out then jump on the hub. If you jack up the LCA and it starts to lift the entire corner of the car up, then drop it back down and loosen or remove the strut fork.

There are 3 ball joints to be released, if you remove the knuckle. The ball joint lifter will work on all three, and it's cheap.

good luck

It will probably go away but are they lubricated enough? Are you sure that you didn't miss anything?

^ yesterday i got some white litium grease for breaks and greased every crack and spot i could on all 4 brake calipers and setup. - it still is making the noise. i asked a tech at some strauss auto and he said it could be my hub bearing? from when i pulled my assembly off. is he wrong? or could i of screwed my bearing. as far as i can tell the car drives great, just this constant noise while i drive is annoying ... pleasse help

okay guys after searching many other forums and sites i found out its normal. they are brand new and my pads pretty much touch the rotors even with the car off. i will just need to let my pads wear down so they have more clearance. i will give this a week or 2, if still happening then i will remove both front dust shields. its possible i could of slightly bent one while beating off the old rotors. any additional info is appreciated!! ill update you all after some time goes by.. thanks again

^ yes i removed them, but they are in correctly.

last night i dissassembled everything and re-installed the front's. turns out they were on the wrong side. i only did the front 2 rotors though. so after all what done it still drives great, but makes that noise while i drive above 10-15 mph!!!! ill let the pads wear in i guess. and everything was lubricated with lithium grease.

^ im gonna hold of on a DIY for the moment i think theres a possibility one of my cv axles being bad. its pissin me off, im gonna have my mechanic check it out this weekend if the sounds persist..

would a worn or bad cv axle cause a constant sound at motion like i described? thats all i can really think of.

my friend has the same suspension setup on his accord, and after we converted to type II calipers and replaced the rotors, when he slams on the brakes hard, the right side goes click click click click.... I've already taken it apart again, tried a new caliper, and regreased everything and replaced the axle. Really weird. I'm thinking its the bearing.

^ well im replacing both my front axles this weekend. hopefully around $50 each. this better fix my slight vibration at speed and hopefully this clicking. anything else you all can think of? how much are the bearings? should i replace them also?

desired_speeds - mine is quit when i brake though.. its a constant noise after 20mph. could a bad axle explain the feeling ive had that something is holding my car back, it has always felt like theres something causing resistance while i accelerate. and i greased and checked my bearings, they spin easily with a finger.. thanks guys
