bearing noise

my car sounds like a tractor, and the sound is the worst when you are inside the car. outside its not nearly as bad.

I have a suspicion its my differential, but I am hoping its the wheel bearing.

I jacked up the car, put it in drive and noise was there; took off the wheels, noise was there.

When I try to wiggle the wheel, it doesn't move.

couple of weeks I replaced my drivers axle because the inner joint was messed up. the boot was fine, but the interior was not moving smoothly.

any ideas?

If wheel bearing is bad you can usually feel the roughness by turning the wheel manually w/ a hand on the axle retaining nut and shaft end.

It's more likely the replacement axle is bad. I've seen horror stories of aftermarket axles requiring 2-3 warranty replacements before finding a good axle. I buy a used CV axle if I need one, and try to watch the boots and repair the boots before CV axle is damaged by boot rupture and loss of lubricant.

good luck
