Rear Speaker Static
SYMPTOM One or both rear speakers are creating static or have stopped working completely. PROBABLE CAUSE The electrical leads to the voice coil are loose or have come off. VEHICLES AFFECTED 2.5TL – Thru VIN JH4UA2. . .TC011673 3.2TL – Thru VIN JH4UA3. . .TC001122 PARTS INFORMATION Speaker assembly: P/N 39120-SW3-901 CORRECTIVE ACTION Inspect the speaker(s), and replace them with the assembly listed under PARTS INFORMATION. 1. Turn on the radio. Use the fader and balance controls to locate the speaker or speakers that are causing problems. Also listen to an audio tape or CD to make sure the problem is not caused by radio reception. 2. Once you have confirmed that the problem is in a rear speaker, remove that speaker. 3. Inspect the electrical leads that go from the connector to the voice coil. The leads and adhesive should be firmly attached at the voice coil. • If either electrical lead has come loose at the voice coil, or the lead/adhesive is starting to pull away from the voice coil, replace both rear speakers. • If the electrical leads are still firmly connected, investigate other causes for the problem (connectors, harnesses, grounding, etc). |
