1996 Acura TL 3.2 over heating
Hello, I recently bought an Acura TL 3.2 and the previous owners said that they had replaced the radiator in the car. But it keeps over heating. It ran perfectly fine when I bought it from them. Now, whenever I drive around, the temperature gauge will shoot waaay high, then if I rev the motor up to about 3,000 RPMs the gauge goes back down to normal. I replaced the thermostat thinking that was the problem. Please help.

I was thinking that too but I assumed he would have bled the cooling sytem in either case, changing the radiator or changing the thermostat.

With the engine cool, remove the radiator cap and open the bleeder on top of the water passage, add coolant. Close the bleeder when the coolant comes out of the bleeder in a steady stream without bubbles. Replace the radiator cap, run to operating temp, check the coolant, top off if necessary.

thank you for the pic, we burped it out it took about half a gallon of coolant but still over heats? when i rev it up to about 3000 it cools down real fast. i believe we mentioned we changed the thermostat a couple days ago. any suggestions as to what it may be, my dad says the water pump should be good because there is no leak below it.
he says he has never worked on a car like this but is very mechanical and tells me usually when a water pump goes bad it leaks out a wheep hole?
he says to ask if there is a sending unit/sensor that could be bad?
any suggestions?

That means there is still air in the system. Try burping again but this time do it on an incline. You can use jackstands, but remember to keep the front driverside a little higher than the passenger side.

We jurors once again and then put the plug back on. When we turned tye car on, we left the radiator cap off and it ran perfectly fine. It started to overheat again. Both my dad and me are completely stumped.

Put your A/C or Heat/Defrost on (can't remember which), and look at your two fans, they should both come on in a short bit. Look at your temps then. Report back.
