Are the windshield wipers on tight enough?

I used a 12mm or 14mm socket and then some semi black spray paint to paint them.

I'll check the tightness maybe today. Thanks Mike for the reply.

Anyone know any answers to my questions on page 1? I'll be installing my HU next week sometime.

True, and all those pictures don't help

See pictures and corresponding questions for clarification (link).

1) My wipers seem REALLY loose with lots of play - so they don't go completely to the left edge of the windshield...what to do? (working on this one..)

2) The previous owner mentioned something about two bolts missing from part of the muffler so it's a little louder than normal (but not like one of those trashy-sounding civics ). He said it was something with the valve that controls which pipe to go to. Hmm - what's/where's the fix here?

3) Do I have a bent hood? I've adjusted the 'hood stops', but it's like the hood is bowed so the edges stick up and bounce while driving (bouncing hood syndrome).

4) Should I fix this roof antennae disconnect? And how??

5) Clipped wires. Right. Now this can't be good.. Do you think this is something connected to my speaker problems?

6) Leatherique could fix this maybe? Both crack 1 and crack 2? And crack 3 is vinyl (non-DIYable), right? What about the steering wheel? - ANSWERED (get new seat possibly)

7) How should I approach this bumper body blemish? - ANSWERED (following this PM tutorial)

8) Are these fluids okay to use - in the future as well? ALMOST ANSWERED (oil - good or not?)

9) LAST ONE - Is this the location of the AICV (air intake control valve)? I couldn't find the DIY for cleaning the 1G TL AICV - could someone point me in the right direction? - ANSWERED

My hood bounces too so it isn't a big deal.

Reconnect the roof antenna and see what it does.

When you install your speakers and HU you will be able to see if you are getting power to it. Also your speakers may just be blown.

I don't think the hoods were originally designed to 'bounce' and just because yours bounces along with mine doesn't make is less of an issue with me :P It just looks bad.

I geuss I'll have to strip the antennae and do a little DIY on the connections. Did the same type of thing on an old TV antennae, but this looks a little different.

My speakers are simply the stock ones - just adding a sub and HU. The only speakers that don't work are the dome light mids and the dash tweets. What's with the 14-wire cable that's clipped? I'll try to take a look at and follow where it goes when I do the audio install.

Thanks for all the replies.

My hood closes tightly, no bounces, no movement at all once closed. Your hood does not look normal, maybe a bent somewhere? I can't really tell where in the picture the 14-wire cable run into, but try tracing back the 14-wire cable to find out its origin. To completly answer question #8 about the oil, just about any good quality 5w30 oil will do, so yes Napa oil is okay to use. I just use what is on sale at the time, ranging from Castrol, Mobil, Penzoil, Quaker State, Vavoline, etc..., and a Napa oil filter.

'Don't even work anymore,' so they once worked. Do you recall doing anything that made them not work anymore?

Yes. When I first got the car they worked.

I am getting power to the back because music comes out of the rear speaker's tweeters.

I thought that they were blown so I replaced them and it didn't even work after I replaced them.

Yes. I have had it since April '07.

When I first got it, it worked perfectly and since about last January, the rear speakers have been acting funny.

No problem. Most of us here have aftermarket HU because OEM sometimes does not play anything but original disc. What shock me was the price of the OEM radio on our cars, over $2,000 for one brand new unit. Check it out for yourself... http://www.acuraautomotiveparts.org/...s=&view=normal

I'll probably sell mine on Ebay but won't expect much for it..

Mike, you might have shorting wires somewhere. That could be the cause of your speakers not working.

That green arrow is the IACV?? so I just unscrew the two side screws and clean all the moving parts inside? What should I use to clean it with? How hard is it to put back together once I take out all t he moving parts inside and how hard/easy is it to adjust the idle?

if you can screw in a lightbulb you can put it back and adjust it. Clean it with brake parts cleaner when the engine is cold.

Just bought a 2009 Ford Flex Limited for my business and unfortunately retiring my Acura of ~220,000mi. Loved the thing to death and never had engine issues with it in the past two years of ownage. Only issues have been the vehicle speed sensor (VSS) dieing, muffler replacement, new tires, and the brake pump replacement.

I wish Acura still made cars like they did the first generation TL (made in Japan). Maybe I'll post pics of my Flex even though all of you will probably 'disown' me now that I'm done with my Acura.

I just used some Meguires Plastx and a cloth and hand buffed my headlights back to crystal clear, paid about $8 for a bottle at WalMart and there's enough in there to do several cars!

I've put 6,000 miles on since November, drained and topped off transmission 3 times (3 quarts/time), new exhaust from the flex back ($500)and it's doing fine. A couple of rust holes by rear wheels and trunk lid. Biggest issue at 226,000 miles is having to bump the dash short one a week to get the cabin fan too turn on.
