Actually I think it's spot-on. Ignorance is the lack of knowledge, and 03TLSNBP said that based off his own experience. I have to agree because of the people I've talked to who were into that style, the overwhelming majority of them really didn't know anything about cars, and thought that since those wheels cost $3000, they were WORTH $3000.

"Ignorant" is one of those words that people nowadays throw around without knowing the true definition. I would think that looking into the average person into that style would actually confirm what 03TLSNBP is saying (stick-on vents and all).

~Cheers~

wow, this forum is on some serious Hate-orade. "and 03TLSNBP said that based off his own experience." that may be true but just bc a certain group of car enthusiasts don't share the same mod list as you or what is popular in your area doesn't make the statement he made okay. At the end of the day, they ride their car and you ride yours. who really gives a F_ck? There were things I didn't like about his ride, about other members rides, and all but I never took it to the the extreme like this thread has. He likes big flashy wheels on cars and most members here like honda wheels on theirs. lets get over it and focus on more important things like, who can make me a set of full led tails for ummmm $400 lol.

It's not about hate! Hate is another term thrown around. It implies that they have no real concrete reason to dislike something, just jealousy!

~Cheers~

P.S. AZ criticism is nothing, haha. If you want to see extremely harsh reactions, try SupraForums Off-Topic!

I love the way OP dodged the sexy car pic after bitchin "wheres yours" to Go90go

P.S: 20's on small bodies remember me those ugly ass toy cars we used to have when we were young, you know, the ones we never played with.

i just came back to bump this thread because here is a TL on 20's done right...

then i saw i was called out on what i said lol.

what i said was definitely not ignorant. it was definitely based off personal experience. OBVIOUSLY not 100% of people who have a car styled after Pimp My Ride know nothing about cars.

I just get annoyed when i see people put 22s on their car without knowing the consequences of what they did. i see this a lot since i go to various car shows/meets A LOT and talk to a lot of people of various demographics. ask those people if they have any idea about vehicle dynamics and how they increased their braking distance, threw off their speedometer, probably reduced fuel economy and acceleration, as well as handling. if they know all that and still go through with it, then thats fine. its just the style they like.

idk...thats just from a mechanical engineer's point of view. i look at everything in the world very technically.

Everybody has their opinion on how others' cars look. This is a place to share your opinions respectfully and discuss. It only becomes problematic when people think too highly of their opinions and think it's objective, not subjective.

So most of us aren't huge fans of the OP's car. No big deal, I wouldn't do it to my car either. As long as he likes it, that's all that really matters. I'm sure if any of you guys posted your cars on some Detroit muscle forums you would get laughed off as well. Doesn't mean your car sucks, just means it's not their style.

I think the line between objective and subjective is getting blurred in this thread. Cosmetics are always subjective.

Don't get me wrong I can love a big car, Had a 2001 Impala and a Bonneville in the past, but compared to the 1st gen and 4th gen TL's, the 2nd gen is just... huge. I almost got a 2nd gen at some point. It does look good on those 20's, but point I was trying to make, 2nd gen is HUGE compared to the 1st, therefor of course 20's will look great.

i still dont like 20s on a TL, even the 2nd gen. to me, it needs to be a full sized lux sedan to pull it off... like LS, GS etc.

maybe if that white 2nd gen TL had a oem kit then and only then it may look good.

i realize i posted a 2G TL with 20s.

The point of me posting that was more about the wheels themselves (and the lack of wheel gap), not about the car they were on.

I like the 20s, but there is always someone who wont like your whip, hell my other ride is a first gen Honda Odyssey with 18s. A minivan with rims is always a joke.

^ Isn't that the story with everyone? A friend of mine had a blown Fox-body since the '90s, and never put a scratch on it even when having fun with it. Sold it a few months ago, and not two days later the new owner calls him over to see the crumpled remains of it.
