bg44 or redline si1 are good in the gas tank
Seafoam is good direct into the intake manifold vac port at the TB
All will remove carbon and crud buildup

I have about 180,000 miles on my 1G TL and for the past two or three months I've noticed that there is an intermittent drop in my idle at rest that will sometimes cause my engine to shut down. I suspect this is a result of fouled up fuel lines and so every now and then I will pour a fuel injector cleaner in the tank to clear this up. It does seem to work, but only if I do it regularly when I fill up. Each bottle is about $5.00 or so depending on the brand. I've used STP, and some others, and I honestly cannot tell the difference between brands -- sort of like telling the difference between brands of gasoline. I suspect that the only thing that matters is doing this on a regular basis at each fill up, on older, higher milage cars.

or you could buy the good stuff and do it direct into the vac port on the intake, and use in gas tank at max strength- if it says treats 8 to 25 gallons, you want to put the bottle in 1/2 tank
Properly cleaned- it should be good for 5000 miles to a gas tank treatment- and once a year do th eintake manifold
You may have a dirty IAC which needs to be cleaned- not just hit with cleaner
Its crazy to add to every tank!
Many of us use Seafoam- its been around since 1940 and is hi detergent oils- instant clean years of carbon off valves and pistons

When I had my starter replaced I had the shop clear out the IAC. The guy claimed he did so, but the problem still exists...Maybe he didn't. What's the trick in DIY?
Haven't tried Seafoam since I remember seeing some post saying its snake oil and it doesn't work.

its high detergent oil and cleans carbon and glaze like magic
stp takes 3 bottles to get any action- thats why they come in 3 pack!
its possible to clean the iacv with the TB on the car- but to do it right, it needs to be removed and flipped over for access

the IAC is under the TB assembly, 2 screws hold on the cover
Its possible to clean with it on the car but usually done with TB removed and flipped over
Read ziner threads on seafoam and discover the truth of its abilities
