By your pic im guessing you have a 2.5? I was just wandering if it is the same wiring between the 3.5 in the DIY and your pic.

rule #1) search before asking questions

rule #2) make your posts in the right forum, not some random thread about parking/fog lights and introducing yourself.

rule #3) Dont Capitalize The First Letter Of Every Word. It Makes For An Annoying Read And There's Absolutely No Reason For It.

It's just so you can have the fogs come on independently of the headlights. Works for glare in fog, but most people do it for the look.

After I read this I wanted to do this but I didn't want to chance anything happening but if I saw like pics with this then I could probably figure it out but nothing to chance it. It gives the car a defined look because not to many 1st gen have this feature that you can make.

One time I found that mine had stopped working until I figured out what an idiot am. I simply had my brights on the night before and that prevents them from working whether the lights are on or off. So maybe checking your brights switch could be it.

I just did this mod, AWESOME! EXCEPT, the fogs will stay on until I turn off the fog light switch. Not sure if this happened with everyone?? I used the connector that is recommended...The one where you put both wires in the plastic then crimp the metal piece through both wires..

Anyone have this problem?

how is this a problem? fog light button off = fog light off.
fog light button on = fog light on.
what more do you expect? seriously trying to understand the "problem" here.
i wanna do the mod too and i'm a novice, so don't be making me nervous!

I did this same mod on my nissan maxima and several other cars over the years. difference between this mod and when I modded them? when i turn off the parking/driving lights on the other cars, the fogs go with them.

when i turn off the parking/driving lights on my TL, the fogs stay on. The fogs stay on when i turn the car off. If i wanted them to have power whenever, I could have done that. I just want the fogs powered when my parking lights and driving lights are turned on, not all the time unless i hit the fog light switch.

I also had the same problem. I just ended up undoing the whole thing back to factory.

In 2.5 TL, using the DIY, what was happening, it was making the fog switch to work independently. So the parking had to be turned on, the fog had to be turn on.
I went back in to verify the color of the wires and that seemed right. I could have done something wrong, who knows.

My problem was, a lot of time I forgot to turn off the fog switch, so the fog stayed on even thou the parking lights were turned off and the key was out. The fog did not have any chime to warn me.

I could have done something so that the fog could be out if the key is out as well, but did not feel like spending so much time into it.
I really liked using the fig and the parking lights during rain in the day time.

Sounds good.

Has anyone tried to light up the signal lights in the bumper? I'm used to seeing them on from other cars. I think the car would look better with the bumper directional signals lit with the headlights. Then brighten when you use the directionals. I looked at the case and there are two seperate sections for lights. The normal ones and small ones toward the center of the car.

Thanks.

Many cars have them in the bumper but in our car and others cars are in the headlights. Our fog lights is the part of the headlight that looks like a projector. this mod is so that when there is fog you don't have to turn the headlights on to have the fog lights on...you just have to push the foglights switch and they will come on. This mod some would say is for look but I think that it is actually useful.

Hi everyone, I'm a recent owner of 96 2.5TL with extremely low mileage (75000kms). I tried doing this DIY but suffered the same problem as meazz1 in that there was no chime to warn me that the fogs were inadvertently left on. I almost drained my battery. I want to make my fogs work with the parking lights, i.e., fogs will only come if the parking lights are on.

I did some digging on the wiring diagram and wanted to run my approach by the 'experts' here. I'm hoping to get your opinion on this before I attempt. Just a quick note, I have a Canadian car so wiring is a bit different, but the colour seems to be same for this project, for the most part.

I confirmed that the red wire with blue dots is for the fog light. I'm not sure what the red wire with silver dots is for - however, since the fogs work independent of the parking lights being on, I assume it's a power wire of some sort. I don't think this is the parking light wire, pretty sure.

Based on the wiring diagrams (96-98 Service Manual First Edition, 10/97), the parking light should be a RED/BLK wire. This is true for US and CAN cars. My approach is to wire tap these two wires: RED/BLU and RED/BLK. I'm proposing putting a fuse in between in the event that something should go terrible wrong. What do you guys think about this?

Any input is appreciated. Thanks.
