Ok, im in ohio and I cant find this stuff nor know where to find it. What do i need to strip that silver crap off the console? You say its called zip strips? Where do i find this stuff or what elements should i look for in another brand chemical. You see its like a grocery store, here in cincinnati we have kroger but you people in florida dont know what the hell kroger is and i dont know what publix is. Maybe they dont even sell this zip strips stuff in ohio? Do i need a paint stripper or what?

Yup. All you need is paint stripper. I used some other brand name and it worked fine. Just go to a hardware shop or a Home Depot.

 

ALL YOU GUYS GOTTA DO IS GO TO A WALL-MART AND GET YOURSELVES SOME PAINT STRIPPER.
THAT'S WHERE I GOT MINE AND IT WORKED GREAT AND FAST.
BESSIDES, IT IS CHEAPER THAN THAT ZIP STRIP STUFF.

 

i got it from sears hardware by my housei dont know if you have it but its basically just paint thinner

 

What I want to know is how the hell do you get the dam thing off? I've tried popping it up but I don't want to scratch the thing any info will help.

 

i'm having a heck of a time trying to remove the plate . Is there a special trick that i'm unaware of ?

 

You want to remove the shift knob, then pop off the black plastic. Then you can remove the shift plate (but it's difficult - you'll see...)

BTW- the shift plate _is_ plastic, but it's chrome plated.
