Windshield Wipers Not Working
Hello fellow 1st Gen Owners. My 98 2.5 TL windshield wipers stopped working today while I was on the highway in a lightining storm. I asked a car guy for advice and he said that it is probably the wiper motor. He also told me that the motor is about $200, not counting labor. Has anyone else had this problem? It is possible that such a repair is covered under some warrenty, or something? I found out today the extreme importance of the windshield wiper. I had to drive at a crawing pace stopping at frequent intervals to wait for the rain to ease up a bit. Any advice concerning this problem would be greatly appreciated. Thank You!!!

Cruisin'
My 96 3.2 TL wiper motor had filled up with water. It worked intermittently for a few weeks, and then failed. I tore the wiper motor down, drained it, dried it out and reassembled it. It worked. I'm not sure if it was the original motor, because someone had been under the cowl before me.
But.
I never did find the source of the water. About a year later, it did the same blasted thing, but this time one of the brush brackets had rusted away and there was no fixing it. Replaced it with a motor from an auto parts recycler. I think I had to pay $75 for it.

I had the same problem.
My friend (mechanic) took apart the wiper motor and told me the brushes are getten worn (whatever that means), but he did fix it for me.
He also told me it will probably break again in the future, so I will have to get a new or used wiper motor.
