Who here rock infinity kappas?
anybody here got any kappas 6x9? They run like 2 bills a pair, which is pretty expensive. How do they sound?? do you use a seperate amp for those or do you just use the head unit to power them??

I think you can get them for much less than that. Check out Audio-n-More.
How they sound is more of personal thing. What may sound good to me may sound like crap to you. Best bet is to go and listen to em at a local car audio shop and determine for yourself. BTW, bring the type of music you listen to. Compare two of the same size speakers switching back and forth and narrow it down to what you like.
I would recommend an amp to drive them rather than using the head unit. You'll get more out of it.

No 6X9's but I had a Kappa Perfect 12 inch sub. Got fried after 1 week. You have to be very careful when installing and wiring them...they very sensitive. My ground and made contact with the a metal part of the car too soon, and it just short circuited it. That was a $275.00 mistake.
All my mid's and highs are Eclipse Point Source by Fuji-Ten. They sound amazing! They are hard to come by, because they are professional quality, but you can find them on Ebay.

Indeed but I got them when they were transitioning to the new ones so i got both 6X9s and both 6.5s for 200 bucks shipped with baffles. And i thing that was a pretty good deal for that time.

Someone has already posted that sound is personal and I agree. I've had several different audio setups since 2001 and settled on 6x9 Kappas in the rear and the component reference series in the front, with the tweeters, and 2 perfect 10 subs in the truck. I've tried kappas in the front as well, but the tweeters from the reference series add an awesome high frequency finish.
Oh, I have 2 MTX amps, one powers the subs and the other the front 6.5's, while the 6x9's are powered by the pioneer 9400 head unit. With this setup I can go to very high volume with no distortion. I've tried a lot of different combinations of kappas and reference, so let me know if you want to know more of what I've experienced.
