i have 215/50 R17 on my 98 2.5TL. I know that 7.5 wide wheels with an offset of +42 or higher will fit fine. you may want 215/45 for weight reasons. tirerack.com suggests 215/45 for a 17 inch wheel.

I now have a camber problem that i can't fix... why??? because i dropped my car 2.25" and my car is not rubbing but the fender overlaps my tire...
The bigger the rims the smaller the tire you should go...
Drawbacks... you feel more of the road and sometimes bad for the suspension... since the tires can't take any of the shock from bumps etc... the suspension gets the full load... dropping the car has no affect on the car... the only thing is that the suspension will be siffer and you'll feel every single pebble on the road...
Good side of it... It will look gooooooood
