What is the deal with my rims!!!!
I have found over 7 sets of wheels that I have wanted for my TL, and none will fit. The offset isn't right. WTF is going on. I am working with this guy at a discount tire place, and he is looking into them for me as I find more wheels. I gave him a list of ones I wanted, and called me back saying none would fit properly. This really making me mad, and now I am like screw wheels. On my accord it was easy, I picked some out and they put them on. Now my ? to you guys is, did you have a tuff time finding your wheels? He says I need a +42 offset. He said our cars are complicated to put wheels on.

42 offset? Not for 18's unless they're 7" wide or less. If you get a 18x7.5 wheel, you need at LEAST a 45 offset or higher. I have a 45 offset with 18x7.5's and I cant imagine how bad a 42 offset would rub. Whats your price range? Maybe I can give you a few ideas.

Sometimes people dont really know what they are talking about. I have 18X8 with +42 offset on my 962.5TL and they fit perfectly, I didnt even have to roll my fenders. IMO, just get the rims you like as far as they are 8.0 or less(width) and +40 or more offset, when you put them on, they will fit, trust me on this. I was told that 18X8 will never fit my TL, but I went on and got 18X8 and they fit and I even lowered the car with no problem at all.

I'm not just taking a wild guess and saying they wont fit. The ONLY possible thing could be that 2.5's have different hubs than 3.2's and they might work with a lower offset.

rims
Ya well the guy always asks me if if mine is a 2.5 or 3.2, so I think there is a difference. Thanks for the info guys, and I will check some of those tire places, a couple of those I have seen, but will check them.

Man the 18x8 with a +42 or +43 will definetely fit. Like I told you before I had the 3-piece C2 in 18x8 w/ like a +42 offset. I ran 215/35/18 w/ a 3.25" drop and still had no rub. (Tires were very small though). Then I raised it up to a 2.25" drop and got 225/40/18 and still had no rub. My wheels now are 19x7.5 w/ +43 and 225/35/19. BUT to me I liked the 8" w/ +42 offset better. It fills out to the fender better.

I have 18x7.5 with +42 offsett. Lowered with Eibachs and it rubbed a little until I had the fenders rolled. Now, now problems what so ever. Even with two people in the back I have to go over a large bump to make it rub.
neokinetiks_00, your car is very very nice! I wish I could lower mine like that.:wow:
Actually, I probably could, I just don't want to right now. The roads blow where I live

Well I have looked and 4 bolt hub wheels are out there. I have even found some in 19". The offset issue is still a question for me because I have read so many different stories about which is the best? <42MM or 45MM>

OKAYYYYYYY now im lost!!!!!!! this is what DFUNK said: "18x7.5 with +42 offset rubs (not dropped) and NEOKINETICS said, "18x8 with+42 does not rub )dropped"....he also has19x7.5 and still no rub (dropped). whats going on? dfunk, you have a 3.2??? i know neo has a 2.5

Aight...Heres the deal. I got 18x7.5 with +42 offset (Maybe +44) but almost positive they're +42. Before I got it dropped I had no rubbing. THEN I dropped w/ Eibachs and it rubbed often. So I GOT THE FENDERS ROLLED and...........PRESTO-------> EL Senor Rub.....Gone
Every once in a while it rubs on like a big bump. I would say get +45 OR UP. It's not that rolling your fenders is bad, but I would have rather not done it. Tho +42mm really fills up the wheel well.
Like I said before....you can get a +42mm in two different brands of wheels, slap the same tires on, and one might rub on your car and the other might not. Actually, that's just my opinion, but seems like commn sense. (Also, Thats what it seem likes w/ people on this board from 96s to 2002s. Some people have had rubbing problems with +45, and others no problem with +42. It's weird, but thats been my observation w/ a lot of members on this board. Do a search on offset.
In other words...go with a +45 if you want to play it safe.

excuse my stupidity again but.. what does that mean for the 2.5? he said, "ua-2 2.5 with +38mm"? so i HAVE to get rims with a +38 offset? no +42?
hey, i was just wondering...the bigger the number of the offset means the more space the wheel fender will be used up? is that what i need to look out for when buying new wheels?? im looking at 2 particular wheels that are 18x8 <~~~ that "8" is how much the wheel space will be used, isn't it? once again, sorry for my stupidity.
