Tire size and speedometer

Does changing the size of the tire change actual reading of the speedometer? I only put 17s on and I can't imagine that it does but I seem to be hitting 100 more now than before and I am wondering how if the speedometer is wrong.

As long as the overall circumference is the same as stock...the speedo will be unchanged. Try:

Yeah - it's not the rims, it's matching the tires to the rims.
