Strut Tower Brace for 3.2 TL

I finally got my strut tower bar installed and it makes a huge difference in handling. I used an aftermarket bar made for a Honda and designed my own brackets. The plastic engine cover had to come off and I will be getting smaller ones off a G2 Legend to cover the harness. I can post pictures, if someone will instruct me how to insert photos.

Is it hard to make your own bracket?

Use "Attach file" to attach your photo.

First, I made full sized brackets using 3/16" cardboard (paper with styrofoam sandwiched in between). You can get these at art supply stores. I mounted the Honda bar on it and after I was satisfied with the geometry of it, I had it made with 3/16" steel plate at a fab shop. The person who made it was a friend, so it just cost me a case of beer.

The original brackets that came with the bar were made with 1/8" plate and I guess I could have use that thickness as well, but I wanted to make sure it did not flex. I was originally going to make the steel bracket myself using a drill, scroll saw and grinder, but changed my mind.

The bar I used was for a Honda Civic. Strange that the Civic one would work out because it is a much narrower car. The bar I got has 2 bends in it and it worked out perfectly to fit my 3.2TL. The engine cover had to come off though. I'll post a picture after I get my digital camera back from repairs.

What is the year and model of the Civic?
Hope the plastic engine cover from the Legend G2 fit well.

It was for a 97 Civic. I've compared photos of the G2 Legend and the 3.2TL and the engine looks identical including the location of the bolts holding the plastic cover. If you get a chance to try one first, please let us all know how it fits.
