Stock Radio/CD Player

My CD player has been giving me lots of trouble since about August. It wouldn't play CD's every once in a while. Then it progressed into not playing mornings and nights. Now, it plays only certain tracks (these are brand new CD's I am using). I was wondering, before I go buy a new headunit and whatnot, if there is any way to maybe clean the cd player? Anybody know what's wrong?

They're the biggest rip-offs. $1600. They gotta be kidding me.

you can try a junkyard or ebay to see if they have the stock unit. i've seen in crutchfield that there are HU's that are the equal size of the stock HU. here is an eBay listing for a stock 97 TL radio:

Is there any way to clean it? I have a feeling that might be the problem.
