Starter Question

Greeting Fellow TL members:

Your mission if you choose to accept it, is to help me locate the starter on my 96 2.5 TL. The enemy has cleverly hidden it from me, but I've tracked the positive battery cable and suspect that it's near the oil filter. The car clicks but won't start and I'm afraid the situation has deteriorated quickly. I need some brave, knowledgable TL agents (preferably with some oil stains under their belt) who can point me in the right direction. Thank you and good luck to you all.

GeeZus, I found it. Shoulda known, the 2.5 always has to be different.

FYI, the starter on the 2.5 TL is located a little to the left of the Transmission dipstick. Look for the letters IMP 1R. I took the passenger wheel and battery off for nothing.

I'll try to take it out of there and post pics when I'm done.

Here's the pic of the starter on the 2.5 TL. It's kinda hidden, but near the transmission oil dipstick. There are two 17 mm bolts, that I could not get off. No matter tho. It turns out the wiring was loose and the starter is still good (knock on wood). The car has 139,000 miles.

I can't imagine how hard it would be to take that thing off if it goes bad.

Question: Is it just me or did Honda make it exremely difficult to work on the 2.5 TL? For example, I have changed oils on all of my family's cars. But I have never had so much trouble getting the oil filter off the 2.5 TL. And why did they put the starter where it is? The rotors are a pain to take off too.

3.2s as well. To get to the starter, the left suspension and the left axle have to come out...

~Cheers~
