Service and repairs done in 225,000 km

Picked up the '98 2.5 from my Dad this past weekend. Runs great and is in excellent shape body wise - Krown'd every year except last year...it seems it works...

He always had it dealer serviced and kept all the invoices. I just went through them. Thought you might be interested...

In 225,000 km (on top of the normal maintenance) he has replaced:

brake discs once, pads three times (front and rear)
two oxygen sensors
two pairs of upper control arms, outer tie rod ends once
radiator/thermostat/radiator upper hose once
A/C idler pulley once
battery twice
complete exhaust incl cat conv once
timing belt/water pump/drive belts/idler pulley twice
wiper linkages once (well I am doing that as they are not working well)

He also had the recall on the rear wheel bearings and front ball joints done.

I worked for Acura 1989 - 1992 and have to say that using OEM parts is a good idea. NGK or DENSO plugs only, never ever use Champion. When doing the timing belt always do the water pump and idler pulley at the same time.

Overall my Dad has been very happy with his Acura and was having a hard time letting it go. He was happy that I took it on. His wife didn't like the looks of the new TL, so they got a C300 Merc. Very nice and I have to say it is very similar to the '98 TL, just newer...I was surprised at the similarities when I got in it...
