Sensor Assembly leaking fluid ???
Anybody every see this problem before. I just had a timing belt replacement (see photos) and the mechanic notices that the timing sensors located behind the belts under the engine cover where leaking. It looks like a protective (tar-like) coating on the sensors that is melting off. It is hard and sticky, but you can see that is has been running off the sensors and dripping inside the front engine cover.
I called acuraland and my local dealership and this sensor assembly is not available an is on indefinite back order nation wide. So... I did not replace them.
Has anyone see this before? Please let me know if this is a serious issue and if I need to find this harness with the 3 sensors and have my motor front torn down again.
Pictures of the problem, the timing belt kit, and my valves can be found here along with notes:

Thanks, Pete

I've seen same stuff on my 2.5TL. I think it's "potting compound" with which they encase electrical parts to protect electrical components in some situations. Must not be rated for 200+F temps that occur when engine is shut down. I've seen it on distributor components and other OEM components they don't want you "exploring".
You could replace, but part has run for a long time, so I would let it go. Access is not terrible if you have to go back in, at least for DIY. At shop rates, it's probably 1-2 hrs + to access, replace part, and reinstall cover, accessory belts, and fans.
good luck

After looking at your pictures I ran out and looked at my car and I can tell you mine is doing the exact same thing. (96 2.5) I noticed it right when I bought the car but thought it was oil from valve cover. After reading here I ran out and yep its all tacky like tar.
