Rough Idle-muffled poh poh sound from exhaust
Happy holidays
My 2.5TL with 148K on it has started acting strange. when the in idle I can feel the car shake occasionally and when ever the car shakes, you could hear a muffled poh poh sound coming from the exhaust pipes. for some reason turning on the headlights lessens the shaking. if i turn on the car in the morning and the idle rpm is high (above 0.6), there is no problem. The shaking only occurs when the car is warmed up and idle RPM have settled at 0.6. I"ve done the whole seafoam treatment with no improvement. Can anyone help me ???

Check the PCV and the fast idle valve. When the car shakes, it's the engine speed dropping and the car misfiring causes the popping. I suggest raising the RPM speed to 650RPMs, too.

Hmm makes sense to me. so you suggest i change the PCV valve and fast idle valves? where can i locate the fast idle valve and how do you raise the RPM speed.

The fast idle valve is located to the right of the circled item. Play with the throttle cable to see how you would adjust the RPM speed. It shouldn't be too hard.
