Ported heads

Has anybody ever had or now of someone porting their heads to gain a little more hp? I was trying to figure out how to hop up my 98 2.5 to compete with the newer TL which has 225hp. I removed the intake baffles which helps a little toward that goal. What exhaust systems out there will help out without giving me that loud mopad sound like these hondas? The Lexus IS looks like it has a nice muffle setup with the big tip and doesn't make that loud nice either.

A friend of mine had his Type R head ported and polished when he had it out and got no gain. The Type R head is extremely efficient from the factory.. I would assume the 2.5 is the same way. If you wish to port it out you should do quite a bit of research. Excessive porting may even cause you to lose low end torque and over all power..

Maybe someone else will chime in w/ exhaust suggestions..

uhh

uhh, a p73 (itr) head is casted out of a b16a and is heavily ported and hand polished and ported to there specs. There is no other head assemboled this way from japan other then the pct (ctr) and nsx heads. The rest are mass produced castings which have many flaws and things you can work over to increase flow and flow dynamics. Id reccomend buying bigger valves or stainless ones. Get a valve job (3+ angle) and port and polish. On any car thats a good idea to increase power.

Hey Colt, As far as 3.2's go....Can we get engine parts from the NSX? I remember awhile back you said they both had the c32 block. Did you ever check into that?

I could just port the intake and clean up the heads with a improved valves for more efficient airflow.
