Red face Polyurethane filled tranny/engine mounts?

Anyone here ever experiment with polyurethane filled tranny/engine mounts? 3M window weld 55A or just poly 60A such type products.

My tranny mount has been out for the longest time? I heard this could be the remedy for not buying a $250 part brand new that will eventually go out as well. But basically just want to beef up the front end suspension as well. Remember these are all ideas in the making.

Are you saying you can refill a damaged mount w/ PU and reuse?

My mounts are toast also. It still idles smooth, but there is excessive jerking during some shifts and movement looks excessive. Repair looks to be one of those "challenging jobs".

I searched today locally for a pair of used mounts. So far no one seems to have anything. Anyone ever find a used mount. My experience is the only way to find is to call the salvage yard and ask.

I wondered if perhaps the 3.2TL mounts would swap into the 2.5TL mounts. They look similar and are much cheaper. I could live w/ a little extra vibration for that much money.

regards

Yeah here's my research I think filling them would be the best way considering there are few mounts to choose from to buy brand new. Here's the link check it out yourself:

Just consider a little cabin vibration when doing this DIYbut I hear the handling is great. Poly 60A being the best so far as less vibration.

Something's wrong w/ your link.

Another option may be to use Acura Vigor mounts. They appear to match, but are still over $150.

thanks

Here try this again:
http://importnut.net/motormount.htm
And another here:
http://www.fitfreak.net/forums/fit-d...or-mounts.html

I would only consider doing this if the mounts are cracked or breaking not completely broken that is.

Applying this concept to the 2.5TL mount may be difficult. It appears to be a single rubber piece molded into a vertical housing. Somehow a dampening chamber is encapsulated in that molding. Then it is vulcanized to cure the rubber.

To replace w/ PU would require digging all the old rubber out first. I know from experience in other fields that natural rubber is very tough and difficult to remove.

I found a pair of used mounts for $100/ea. I will inspect and likely use them if they are in good shape. I did this for my 94 Accord and was pleased w/ used mount.

For non-sports, I'd say use 60A PU to fill the rear mount. 80A is good, but you'd get some vibration around 1700-1800RPM. The 2.5's front mounts are hydraulic, unlike the Vigors, but the Vigor ones do fit.

just fill it, you won't regret it. I recommend the type where you tape off the mount and pour over window weld.

Which Vigor's mounts work? Are they the 1997 Vigors? Any other years?

I think last year for Vigor was 1994. Check car-part.com for used parts, and it should show what years were made. I don't think they list motor mounts as an available used part, but you can locate potential donor vehicles.

I've now decided to live w/ my mounts for a while. It idles smooth, no clunk when engaging drive. I have been unable to visually confirm any defects. Sometimes when accelerating from 10-15 mph, the 1-2 shift will "clunk", but that's only symptom I've seen that matches bad motor mounts.

I did find a pair of used for $100/each, but given the work effort to install, I'm leary of buying them. The Vigor mounts may be a better option.

good luck

The 2.5TL was the direct replacement of the CC2 Vigor, with the 3.2 a hybrid of the CC2 and the KA7 Legend.
