Pesky Oil Leak

I'm sorry. I'm new and perhaps this is really annoying when people post repetitive threads, but there are alot of threads to go through.I'm just looking for some well educated advice. Here's the deal: I bought my car last Dec. and there was no leak, but amongst my excitement, i didn't see any leaks, although nor had i actually LOOKED under my car to see. Well, ever since then my car had started leaking more and more. Right now, it's pretty bad. My friend took a looksee and apparently someone welded some shiesty welding around the drain plug with a big crack and there's alot of adhesive glue around that general area. He thinks that the car was sold like that because i havent done anything to cause that much damage...and noone has messed with anything down there. The dealership i bought my car through made me purchase an extended warranty when i bought it (i thought it would have helped) but it does absolutely nothing for me. i called the warranty people, and they told me themselves that the leak isn't covered. anyways, people have told me many things to do ie;replace oil pan, jbweld.etc...what would be the best but fairly reasonably priced?

None of my mechanic friends want to go through the trouble of having to lift the engine out or whatever. That's what i want to opt for is just replacing the oil pan, but it's either way too much through an auto shop or my friends just don't want to lift the engine out.

If this doesnt work, try Patrick Harrison at Auto Adventure, I've dealt with him before on a personal basis and he was very helpful. Their warehouse is HUGE!

i think any vigor year will do. vigors werent even out on the market that long b/c the idea of a 5 cylinder car wasn't appealing to the public..so they gave it a new body style but used the same engine i.e. 2.5TL but thats beside the point.

i think the vigor only came out btw 93-95. 95 is the 1st year the TL came out also but it was limited to a number made. I think only 95 TL had cloth seats, once again, that is beside the point LOL

is there anywhere..maybe some website that could direct me in that direction. I'm having a really hard time even finding an oil pan for the vigor online. Searching here in town isn't going to help neither. acuras are scarce, like water in a desert. People don't even know what i'm talking about when i ask about acuras. the Honda dealership here sure didn't know what i was talking about. Anyways, I've been searching online here for awhile and i can't find anything, and whenever i think i do find something, the website is down. Sheistty. Help me!!!!!

As indicated by Ken1997TL, you should look at http://www.acuraautomotiveparts.org Since you say you're tired of looking, why not go there? I'm guessing from your username that you have a '98 2.5 TL. Click the 'Acura Parts Store' link on the right side and on the next page fill in the fields with 'TL', '1998', '4DR PRE2.5', 'KA4AT', and 'CYLINDER BLOCK-OIL PAN' respectively. The part you're looking for appears to be #3 in the illustration with a cost of $372.08. Unfortunately, I have no experience in dealing with this part so I'm not sure how much of a PITA it would be to install, but judging from the diagram, it doesn't look fun.

Hope that helps,
Slagboy.

Its not fun at all. And yes any year the Vigor was in the US it will work as the engines are almost identical (except for emissions equipment) but that doesnt affect this.

Look for years 1992 - 1994. '95 through '98 for the 2.5 TL.

Side note: The Honda Vigor first came out in '81 if I'm not mistaken in Japan. It was basically an upscale Accord until around '91 when it became a truly unique car.
