Painting the bottom side mouldings

Has anyone painted the bottom side mouldings to match the body colour and not have chipping problems later? What kind of paint/clear coat was used?

Thanks!

I did. Trust me it's not a wise thing to do if you have your car is dropped. Even though the from the side angle it's still good looking. From underneath it's a different story, if you can't drive with your car dropped more than 1.5 inches over certain areas dont waste your money.

Sideskirts were sanded with 600 dry, prepped and primed, primer was sanded 1000 wet, with dupont chromabased primer, and refinished it with dupont chroma premier base coat and clear coat

Thanks for your comments, ReQuest. My TL has an Eibach Pro Kit installed and has dropped only 1", therefore I am not too concerned about scraping on speed bumps.

What I am concerned about is the +45 wheels with 225 ZR 40 tires on my car that will probably through up rocks and chip away the paint on my skirt if I were to get it painted. My car is silver and the side skirt, as you know is originally black and the chips will look very ugly. Is this a legitimate concern?

from what i've examined on my car, not a single chip due to rock's or debris. Do you go on to dirt roads often? if not, i don't think it's a concern. Don't quote me, because accidents do happen. Mister rock might sneak his way in onto your side skirt.

Just make sure that the painters, prep the plastic and cleanse it very well, if not usage of an adhesion promoter before painting. There are a few additives that also make the clear coat/ paint more durable and flexible, thus a greater resistant to debris etc.
