opinions on tl purchase, please help.

I made a deal to buy a 98 2.5tl for $16200.00, the car is pretty much flawless except for a minor paint mark on the bumper which i think can be buffed out. I would be the third owner. The car has 47k miles. The interior is also flawless. I feel like it's a good deal since it is below blue book, and edmunds pricing by about 8 hundred bucks. However, the market is bad up here in the bay, and this guy needs to sell the car due to some medical injury that has him bedridden. The car is the silver blue color. The guy was asking $17900. My only quam with the car is that it feels a bit underpowered, and that it is not as quiet as a es300.

Opinions, comments, anything??

Also, overall how would you rate your tl? I really like honda/acura quality, and feel this car would be similar to other honda/acura cars I own.

no rice, all motor b18c eg hatch, no ac, stolen twice, rims jacked once, but i still love it.

BIGKEARNS: First off, i would like to welcome you our forum You came to the right place to ask your question. about this car of yours, you say the owner was in a hospital? i dont want to jump to conclusions here but that could be a sign lol he probably got into a wreck in that TL and had it fixed. to find this out, simply run your fingers along door hinges, trunk lids, and the end of your hood (facing the windshield) and see if they're all smooth. if its rough, its been raped (accident). as for quietness, 2.5 TL's are noisier compared to the es. 3.2 TL's are quieter than the 2.5 TL's for some freaking reason! As for power, 2.5 is a 5 banger (176hp) for as the 3.2 is a 6 banger thats putting out around 200hp. so if you want power and like the looks of the TL, go for 3.2. your 2.5 doesn't sound too bad. 98 2.5 with 47k?? not too shabby!! if your car is in perfect condition and has never been hit, you'll love the ride. if you decide to buy it, come stick around with us. we'd love to have you here.

baller, The guy is some old man with spinal cancer.. sad story. He actually bought the car about 3000 miles and 6 months ago and then was diagnosed with the cancer. I guess he is so jacked he can't even drive anymore. He had to have his helper show us the car since he is literally bedridden. The car hasn't been in an accident, I checked over all the panels and checked the rubber for overspray. The car is in excellent condition. Thanks for your welcome to the forum, although I am going to try my best to keep the car stock. I already have a money pit and I'm trying to stop the addiction to upgrading the ride.

Any input on the price, deal, average, steal??

Sounds like a good deal..I payed 15,200 for a 96 2.5TL Prem. w/ 60,000 in perfect shape on(7-15-00). I looked for 4-5 months before finding the exact one I wanted. Im very particular. White, No pin stripe, no tint, no gold package, no woodgrain add on, etc..

If you like the ES300 I seen told selling for around 19k for 98-99 models.
