Oil of Brand -Tranny and Engine

I was wondering how good is the Wal Mart branded engine and tranny oil / fluid. I think its called Super Tech. They are much cheaper than name brand products.
If you are changing oil every 3k, can I use these in our Hondas and Acuras?

Tranny fluid is a whole different monster than engine oil.

The stuff that you see at Walmart or the auto stores are usually designed for trannies that use Mercon or Dextron oils. Honda/Acura, Toyota, etc have their own fluids and usually you must use their proprietary brands... the only exceptions would be if there are aftermarket brands that are same or better in terms of chemical make-up (additives, viscosity, etc...) e.g. Redline has a tranny fluid for hondas that is proven, along w/ others. do your homework, or use the OEM brand.

You don't have to be as picky w/ the engine oil, but should be mindful of the general quality of the oil. In all honesty, most oil is oil, but some are fomulated a little better. But if you're engine is older, you may want to start using Synthetic for added protection more than oil cleanliness.

For god's sake leave WalMart unless you're buying walls. Anyhow, use OEM Honda ATF or Redline (better OEM), and for engine oil, I personally use GReddy GR-2 (about $10/quart) but am considering using Royal Purple (for cost reasons). ATM, I've got a mix of GReddy and Mobil 1 because I needed to top off after burning a bit. I don't hate Mobil 1, but I'd take Syntec over it ANY day... That's another good one, Castrol Syntec. Oh, BTW, are you already using full synthetics, Synthetic blend (only 2% is synthetic), or mineral? If you go synthetic, don't go back to mineral. If you want to stick to mineral, get some Castrol GTX, although the GTX is better for higher-revving. Valvoline stuff isn't too bad from what I've heard, just don't get Pennzoil shite.

~Cheers~

I've a soft spot for Castrol GTX (for engine oil). For the tranny, I use only Honda/Acura ATF.
