OBDII will not read for inspection HELP!
Hello Again,
Does anyone know of a reason the OBDII connector would fail/refuse to communicate with a OBDII diagnostic machine? I cant get my car inspected and I cant renew my registration without and inspection. Please help, cause after this week I an Fuxxed.

I went to another Inspection station and their ODB read it fine.
Than I forgot this year and went back to the same place, it could not read it.
I went across the street and it passed in less than 30 seconds.

Abd OBDII read
I can get a pocketscan to read it no problem! If I take it to a NC inspection station it will not read, no matter what I do. Now I have to pay a 250 dollar fine for not passing within 4 months of inspection expiration!

Have you recently disconnected the battery? That will clear the ECU and it takes either time spent driving, or a procedure of specific speeds and times to get it reset in 30 minutes- then the smog reader will pick it up.
If you could simply disconnect the battery to reset a CEL warning- then smog could be fooled, so there are safeguads built into the system
check your owner manual for procedure- here they are for free

If the '99 book does not have directions for smog inspection-
see the 2001 book- I know it does

It's not reading at all. Not just giving a "not ready" status. I am gonna give it one more try at a friends busy station. Then I am giving up and having the state inspect it indenepdently and issuing a "non-communication" waiver. Means I'll be loosing my tint and other "illegal" mods.

Hey folks,
I am having the same exact issue. JCOOPER did you ever figure this one out? I have already been to multiple inspection stations. I had a local mechanic (good guy) tell me it is most likely a bad ground or power wire to the CPU. He is getting some data but just the generic stuff. He asked that I get a wiring diagram.
Any thoughts on this?
