New York TLers Tint Tickets
 

I want to get my 96 tl tinted. I heard nypd gives out tickets if ur tints are too dark. I want to get 25% tints. Reply and let me know if any of you got tickets for ur tints, how much was the ticket, and what percentage should I get to be safe.

ya cops are diff everywhere. I know they don't like dark tint.

Over here in cali they'll bust if you have any tints on the front windows. Got pulled over twice so far.

hmmm, not that dark, but little darker then normal. I got 15% on my TL, and it's pretty dark.

Tint percentage is based on the visibility through the tint. Example, 25% tint only allows 25% of the light to pass through the windows.

In New York (According to the NY State Vehicle and Traffic Law under section 375-12) the front driver's windows can't be under 75%, but the back windows can be tinted at ANY percent, as long as you have rear view mirrors on both sides.

So to answer you question.....it depends (on which windows you want to tint)

I think 375(12-a) says 70% in the front.

But, anyway, most of ppl usually don't get any tickets although they have tints lower than that standard.

I am in NYC and I got 35%. I wanted the 20% but I hear a lot of ppl saying the cops are more prone to pull those ppl over. I didnt want the hassle so I went with 35%
