New owner to Acura 98 TL 3.2

Hello everyone...I am new to this forum as I just purchased a 1998 Acura TL 3.2L. When I bought it from a guy it was in near mint cosmetic shape and I was so happy with my purchase! It had to do a little work and it needs more work but I fell in love instantly (for some reason) and I am dedicated to seeing this car through and get it running like new if I can.

I may be asking some questions from time to time if that's okay. SO glad to see this community of older TL owners!

T John

Hey there... congrats on the purchase! What's the mileage on the car, and what kind of problems are you having? Post some pics when you get a chance.

The big problem is the EGR sensor. It triggered the CELight. I got it replaced but it is still kicking the light on with the same code. Is this typical?

I'd also love to restore some of the pep it probabaly had originally.

I'll get a pic or two posted when I can. I really do love the car.

It's a common problem usually caused by carbon blockage in the EGR passage chamber. There is a write up somewhere on this forum on how to clean it out.

I've actually had my mechanic do both...replace the part and clean the ports but it still kicks on. I mean, if it's not a real problem then I don't mind the light coming on (I can run on a full tank before it comes back on) but if it really is a problem then maybe I need him to check the part again for faultiness.
