New one for me... and the dealership too...
So my 97 3.2 started squealing above about 1000 RPM. Took it into the dealership and found out that the pulley assembly that bolts to the crankshaft is falling apart. After they replaced it they showed me. Sure enough, the center pulley had separated from the rest of the assembly and was drifting back and forth, and was slipping, therefore the belt wasn't turning all the time.
Even the service manager and the head mechanic had never seen anything like it. They both said it was obviously a factory defect in the assembly but it obviously wasn't covered by any kind of warranty or service bulletin.
500 bucks later......

I'm just glad the dealership actually has honest service guys. They could easily have told me it was the A/C compressor and soaked me for $1000+ BEFORE finding the real problem (like a LOT of dealerships would)....
