Need help 1997 TL 3.2

Bought 1997 TL 3.2 for my daughter. Has 179000 miles. Recently on her way to school, the D4 light started flashing and the speedometer stopped working. When she came out of school and started up, no problem. Has happened once since then (1 week period). Had a mechanic look at it and he had it a week and said it needs new tranny (I honestly don't even think he looked at it) Also I have a CEL for an O2 sensor. It is code P0141. Cylinder bank 1 sensor 2. Is that the post cat O2 sensor? If not, does anyone know which side O2 sensor this would be. Thanks for any information I can get.

probably a speed sensor issue. I'm sure one of the pros on here can give you more info on that. As for the o2 sensor I think it wil be passenger side post cat, but I may be wrong. You can always do a forum search to see if there is any info. on this issue. Good luck and you bought your daughter a great car!

D4 means tranny issue. Do a search.

yes D4 flashing usually means tranny issue... but it could be as simple as a VSS that needs to be replaced, or a failing trans... how is the car shifting? normal or jerky? if the speedo died, i also lean towards it being a speed sensor dying..

My gut feeling is it is a speed sensor issue as well that made the transmission think it's in trouble.
