My new Saber

Hi folks, just saying hi

I recently purchased this Saber as my everyday drive, my other car is a V8 so as you can imagine is hard on the pocket

I wanted a slightly more economical car than the V8 but, one that has a degree of style and class and I find this model very appealing so after a bit of searching I found this one, they sure are nice cars for their age

I'll will be keeping it pretty standard for the most part, I've already upgraded the audio system (Panasonic headunit & JVC 6" and 6x9" speakers), also I currently have a 'pod' filter in it as the stock filter that was in there was absolutely filthy and I've yet to get round to buying a new one...I had a spare pod filter in the garage and after removing the stock airbox it fitted perfectly, so it will do until I get a correct air filter

One thing I would like to do is change the badging to Acura
In New Zealand the Acura brand does not exist (except for a few Integras that have had the badging changed by owners)

So I think an Acura TL badged Saber would be a neat novelty, I'd only do it if I could get an Acura airbag cover for the steering wheel though and perhaps wheel centrer caps

Well see you all later...I think the forum is great btw

Oh and it's a 2.5

Cheers, Damon

welcome to the community.
That's really a clean car....I like the headlights.
All you need are the clear bumper lights.

Thanks for the welcome
I think it was a good buy too, only cost me approx US$1,900 and apart from the few knocks and scrapes to the body here and there (including an ill-fitting rear bumper but, no evidence of an accident) I can't fault it

As for the clear bumper lights, yes I totally agree that they would look real nice on the car
I may start looking for some locally before hitting ebay

Cheers

Your car looks really good. All you really need are clear bumpers and whatever else you want to do to mod this bad boy. Good Luck!

Hey Kyokushin, are you in Kyokushin-kai? If so, damn, it's a small world, haha.

~Cheers~

P.S. Welcome!

Small world indeed

I love Kyokushin, it's so satisfying
I started fighting when I was a teenager through to my mid twenties (mainly Muay Thai boxing) but having a family interrupted things, I only recently joined Kyokushin with my son so we're both just beginners

Sorry for going OT...here's another pic to make up for it

I really like the color of it, it looks plain silver in pics but is actually a very light gold color
You know I'm enjoying driving it so much I haven't driven my other car (which I plan to only drive on weekends anyway) since buying the Saber
Plus, I like being able to hear the stereo without needing to crank it up loud

I have a question; I only have a regular key for the car, am I able to get a remote from Honda that will allow me to use the remote central locking feature?

OK, here you go

I measured 140mm from the rear edge of the fender to the left edge of the marker and 50mm from the top edge of the side molding to the lower edge of the marker, sorry, but I only have a metric tape measure

Holy crap! I can't believe what I just removed from the Saber today
It looks like a car engine in itself
I'm talking about the monstrosity that is the airbox resonator junk sitting behind the bumper

I do realize that this contraption is common knowledge around here after doing a search on the subject of intakes etc but, until I actually pulled it all out I never imagined it would be so sizeable

I've removed the lower corner indicator lights, which were not wired to function on my car anyway and have a tube extending down from the hole in the engine bay to just near the opening where the light was, to get better, less restrictive air-flow
I've also tidied up the area left by the removal of the lower corner lights by cutting, filing and painting the around the hole

In case there's someone out there who has not seen this monster lurking behind their front bumper, here's some pics, one pic has my size 13 shoe for a scale comparison

...and while I understand any gains are negligible, at least knowing this thing is no longer hindering airflow through the filter is satisfying

I Think Alot Of People On Here Can Help You On The Acura Signs... Or Help Exchange Them... B/c I Know Alot People Here Would Want Them As Well As The Airbag...
