maximas smoke TLs...........NOT!
I just purchased a 2002 Anthracite TL-P. I agonized over a year about buying this car. I, of course, also tried the Maximas: the older engine as well as the 260 hp'd engine. Yes the Max does 0-60 in 0.3 or 0.4 seconds faster than the TL (not the Type S, though) but that's where the "smoking" ends!
The TL just feels incredibly more solid tan the Max, and the acceleration, while not faster, is much smoother over almost the entire low to mid range. The suspension is superior. The Maxima with its NON-independent rear suspension alerts you to all the road spacers on the highway, and pot holes send you to the chiropractor. The TL is much quieter and even the sound system in the TL sounds better than the Max's. Plus, the Maxima, is no where as beautiful as the TL. The rear end of the Max looks like a group of designers could not make up their minds and simply drew straws. The is quite elegant and understated. Finally, the TL will SMOKE the Maxima anytime, any year in resale or trade in value.
