Little Electric Fan
When I turned my car off this afternoon I heard a little noise like a fan was still runnin. I popped the hood and sure enough, there is a little electrick fan Next to the big belt driven fan. I think I have heard this fan come on before, but when I turned the Key to Run the fan stopped I pulled the Key completely out and the fan started running again. The fan ran for about 10minites then it turned off. Has this ever happened to anyone else? I hope it's normal.

Mine only comes on after I've been driving in the mtns. using the low gears and having the engine run at high RPMs. But yeah, it's nothing abnormal.

All 1st gens do apparently. The 2nd generation, some of them do. I guess it just depends on how hot the engine is.

our engines get hot really easy.
the reason why you dont hear it run when your key is in the ignition is b/c the computer shuts it off...relying on the wind, as you drive, to rotate the propellor. So when you see people sitting in their car (especially with AC on) for several min/hours, they dont know that their engine needs cooling!! It really bugs me to see people sit in their car with the engine one for hours...its just making their engine hot and overheat. get it now? so when you take out your key, the computer is making the fan work so yes...it is a GOOD thing.
what i do sometimes is i pop the hood and let the wind cool it down.

i used to have a heat problem but i got a new radiator put in a lower degrees thermostat and put in red line engine coolant and it runs perfectly fine. wait it wasnt a coolant but like an additive.
