keep the tl going or not....?
I was just curious if anyone was planning on or has rebuilt their engine or put a new or new used one into their car to keep it cruising. With the money and time i have seen some of you guys put into your cars, it seems like one definate option would be to put another engine in our cars when the first putts out.....

Since these engine will run well over 200,000 miles and still look like new inside,
just keep changing the oil - have the compression checked- and keep driving
At a certain point you would have to figure the cost of shocks and 100,000 miles service$$$ and other steering parts start to wear out etc, IF then engine went- usually from failure to replace timing belt in a timely manner
2nd gen moderator dropped a replacement engine and 6sp in his car at 200k miles
and is still putting crazy miles on the car. Said the engine looked perfect when removed
Know when to change the timing belt and water pump!

My TL has 149,8xx miles on it. I know I'll probably keep it well over 200K miles. My only concern are the costs to replace suspension and motor mounts... because it's only natural for these to wear out at some point of time. Another concern is the transmission. I drain and refill the tranny fluid every 10-15K miles, so hopefully that should keep it running for a long time.
Can I get the compression checked at any XYZ place?
