Thumbs up Japan Car Care in Houston (Long)

Hello Everyone,

Just posting some information for you guys who need their belts replaced soon or are having the starter problem in the Houston area. The recommendations you guys gave for Phong Le at Japan Car Care (12818 Veterans Memorial - 281 444 4708) was right on! He is Acura/Honda certified and got all the work done in 1 day and below dealer prices. I bought all the parts from http://www.acuraautomotiveparts.net which sells OEM parts. The work I needed done was to change the belts (timing, a/c, alternator, power steering), water pump, and starter.

Here are some of the prices I was getting from dealers:

Sterling McCall Acura
10455 SW Freeway (I-59)
water pump + belts = $424
starter = $200

Charlie Thomas Acura
12111 Gulf Freeway (I-45)
*Note: These guys are the worst! They would not do labor only work. Weird.

Japan Car Care charged me $350 for the belts and $90 for the starter. It turns out that he also rebuilds our starters so if you have the dreaded starter problem, I'd recommend him as well. Unfortunately, I didn't know he did this work and ended up shelling out $300 from acuraautomotiveparts.net for an already remanfactured one instead of a hundred dollars or so to get mine rebuilt.

If there are any questions, please post and I'll answer them if I can.

Peace,
Slagboy

EDIT: The $350 and $90 costs was for labor only.

Unfortunately, I'm not sure. Although his shop is called 'Japan' Car Care, I only saw his Honda/Acura certificate and Honda/Acura cars (mostly Legends and an Odyssey) there. Just give him a call and ask.

Yeah, I paid exactly $440. The parts break down as follows:

timing belt list: 71.09 aaparts: 56.88
a/c belt list: 17.11 aaparts: 13.69
alternator belt list: 10.81 aaparts: 8.65
power steering belt list: 12.36 aaparts: 9.89
water pump list: 180.20 aaparts: 144.17

The parts were bought from acuraautomotiveparts.net and they are OEM parts. I noticed that you just hit 60K miles. The belts do not need to be changed until 90K miles.

Peace,
Slagboy
