Hell yea, If your looking for something cheap and your budget is low, go to pep boys and get a set of futuras... got a set on my front and they run fine... however I plan on replacing them with toyos or yokohamas after the spoiler, intake, clear corners,tints,system,etc... i got 2 front tires mounted balanced and a 4 wheel allignment for 150...

2.5 is around 190 hp. It has a broad torque curve that gives it some power in the upper rev ranges.

3.2 is around 205 hp.

Honda does that to their engines, basically to say that in a worst case scenario your engine is what it claims to be. Other times (in the case of the 5 cylinder G25 motor especially), its done for marketing reasons.

if you clocked a 16 second
and he clocked a 15 second
you lost

edit:

i mean are these your timeslip times?

im confused with this one

did you actually race this car on the track?

im pretty sure he is talking motor trend times, he raced one on the street and the guy was a bad driver and he was a good driver so he was saying that eventhough the lexus is faster he still beat it because he was the better driver

wasnt it that Spooky3ce said he dynoed like 150fwhp or something for his 2.5? no way a car with 176hp at the crank would make 150 at the wheels

No automatic car would make 150 hp. Hell, I've seen stock Legend automatics make 162 hp at the wheels. That tells you something.

Besides... the G25 motor REVS to nearly 7000 rpms, meaning it'll produce a decent amount of HP over torque in terms of numbers.

better driver?

I guess if all you have to do is mash the gas pedal while he has to work the clutch and all, you could be considered the better driver. Although, it seems like he's the better driver being able to do more things on his own, eh?

Hey, the other guy didn't have to get a manual transmission... he could've picked a car with an automatic- it's about perference. As for being a better driver, I don't think the transmission should matter. If you're only comfortable with an automatic, then that's what you get.. why try to f*ck around with something you're not good with? As a drive, you drive... shifting is optional depending on what kind of transmission you got. If the you want the increased performance of a manual, then woop-ti-do, knock yourself out.

Kudos on kicking ass dude...

Though the answer is obvious, I just want to make sure.. did you guys have a running start or did you start from a stop somewhere?

Ok, It was a dead stand still start. Off the line, the IS pulled off quicker, once my first gear reached 4500 rpm I began to pull on him, I did not hit second until redline and All I know is I thought for damn sure the car would beat me and he didnt... A race is a race... I'm not going out saying my TL is faster than others cus I'm a better driver, If I had lost I would have at least had fun. If your going to invest 40,000+ or however much in a nice and decently quick lexus... learn how to drive the thing... I'm sure the driver of the lexus was not thinking... damn I just got beat by a TL with 15 less hp... He was probably thinking 'Wow those TL's are quicker than I thought...'
