intake...
hey guys i want to get an air filter intake system for my car... i was just wondering if there is any company or brands out there that makes the cone filters and the pipe that will fit a 2.5 TL without any customization...

Sorry to high-jack your thread but I have a similar question regarding intakes. I don't want to start a new thread about this.
Are there cold air intakes for the '96 3.2 TL's with TCS? If so, how much would it cost. A member here custom makes them and I was wondering if anyone knows of a place that makes them or if anyone else makes them.
Thank You

the diameter for our piping is 2.5 inches. but if you get a cone filter (AEM, or any of the wanna be cone filters) that has a diameter of 3 inches, you're good to go. all you have to do is remove the stock air filter box below the O2 sensors and clamp on the cone filter. after you do this, remember to unplug your battery so your ecu can reset and reoptimize for the increased air flow.

unx979, you mentioned that "our" car can use AEM filters.... where can i purchase the piping? the metal/steel piping for the air filter? on this site when i look for AEM intakes... theres no intakes for the '96 or 1st gen 3.2 TL's. I prefer cold air intake... any suggestions?

there's no piping made specially for our cars. the AEM filter i'm referring to is the cone filter itself not the pipes. but it's not too hard to make your own CAI out of steel or aluminum tubing. many members on this forum have custom made their intakes, a lot of us have also simply replaced the filter and not the rubber tubing.

if you do custom make a cai, keep in mind that you also need (well you dont NEED it but you might want to have it to be on the safe side) to purchase a bypass valve. aem makes them.

i made a custom intake for my 2.5...
what me and my friends did is we used a 3" diameter aluminum pipe for the whole thing, and to fit it for the different sizes, we just used the silicone adaptors or whatever the heck those rubber things are... if i ever find my digi cam ill post some pics of it..
its a short ram btw.. we didnt want to mess with making a cai at that time
