Inexpensive decent tires
It is time for a new set of tires. I need 215/55/16 V rated.
I have a 98 3.2 sitting on a set of 2001 Acura CL-P Wheels, 16". OEM is 205/60/16, Michelins MXV Plus, $150 a piece, $600 for the set.
I read that Yokohama Avid V4S are good. Just need to know where to find them cheap. The lowest I can get it is $550.00.
Any ideas, suggestions?
Thanks.

Here's a tirerack search of that size and rating against Performance All-Seasons. Both the Avid and ContiExtremeContacts are $89/tire. Not sure why you'd need to call.......??

Avids
Thanks, I can get the AVIDs through Tirerack, including the warranty, delivery @ $ 438.00. Then you have to get it installed for $25 per Tire. Total $538.00.
I can get Tires plus to get them installed, out the door, $550.00.
I still need to look for other cheaper sources.
And yes, do not get cheap with tires, you will regret it.

They have a square contact patch which appears to be less forgiving than other tires for variations in air pressure-- which is driving me nuts right now since in the morining here in NY we've been in the mid 30's rising to the mid 50's in the afternoon. I suggest you really keep an eye on your pressure and keep it at the optimal psi.
If they handle the snow as well as the dry, these will be the best dedicated winter tire for our TLs!

If snow performance is not important, consider the Yokohama Avid V4S as well as these:
Falken Ziex ZE-512, only $84 per tire (includes free shipping).
Kumho Ecsta ASX W-speed, $73 each (+ shipping)
If winter traction is important, you should consider instead this tire:
Continental Extreme Contact $89 plus shipping
Personally, if you need descent snow traction and don't drive more than 130mph, I'd skip the "V" rating and go instead with the "H" speed-rated BF Goodrich Traction T/A H. It's the top-rated high-performance tire at Tire Rack, and costs $90 plus shipping.
Finally, if you're willing to gamble on some untested tire that looks incredible, there's also the Avon Tech M550 A/S. They'll run you $83 each plus shipping.

Tires
Thanks for the suggestion.
This is A town, no snow.
So, I will lean on the Avids, just because they are guaranteed for 60k miles. The Kumhos and Falkens are probably 30K tires.
I love my 3.2 but not really want to be agressive on the road, but still appreciate the look people give me, when they look at my clean and mean looking 3.2.
Funny how people would ask, what year is this? When I say it is a 98, they say, u shitin me.
I love my TL. But would buy the new one if I had $$.

I think you won't be disappointed with the Avid V4S. They will certainly last longer than the others with proper rotation. Do your first rotation at 4000mi or sooner.
