I officially lowered myself...
..to middle grade (89) gasoline. at around 2.99 per gallon for premium, that is just too much for me and will be well over 3 dollars by this summer.
Whose with me in lowering the grade of gasoline?!

question, i know pricecs are going up exponetially, but is it worth the 150-200 dollars a year for the difference between 89 mid and premium? (approx 10 cents)
if you fill up twice a week with a 15 gallon tank (approximately 3.00)
times 52 weeks, = 156 dollars...
no offense but it's just not worth it. IMO

I'm with you on this one.
Not to mention using 89 is actualy going to lower your MPG

I never put anything lower than 91 octane in my car because here in CA, 91 octane is the highest grade. $.10 different between 89 octane and 91 octane is not enough justify to switch to lower grade gas even the gas price jump up to $5. $156 per year is only ~$3.00 extra per week or $1.50 per fill up. Think about it, is it worth to save $1.50 per fill up? Aren't we all trying to improve our car with better performance by adding exhaust, intake, header, etc. but put in the lower octane gas to suffer the loss in performace? what's a contradiction!

Personally, I'd look for a way to save the 150 bucks somewhere else so I could afford the premium fuel, not the other way around.
And let's not forget... we're talking 150 bucks per year, or 41 cents per day. You have a TL and you're saying you can't afford that extra few cents to keep your car running on good gas?

For anyone who doesnt remember, I've done experiments PROVING that in the case of the C32A6 engine (3.2 TL), lowering your octane is NOT cost efficient. The money you "save" at the pump translates into reduced gas mileage. In addition, you're asking for trouble mechanically.
On the non-type S TL, its a different story..
And I have no idea what effects it might have on the 2.5 TL, I'd assume a MPG penalty as well.

I just wish we could get 91 around here, at nearly every station it goes right from 89 to 93

We have 93 down here in the FL panhandle. Its about 2.99-3.09 per gallon for 93. I wouldnt put anything less in the engine. I dont mind spending the extra $1.40 or so to fill up. I fill up like twice or even three times a week and i dont want my car running like crap in between.

If your car needs premium, then you should use premium. If you go with a lower grade, you get less permformance and actually use more gas. Also not worth the damage to your engine due to early detonation.

Not me, staying with premium, it isn't worth the .01 cents per mile difference. If you figure you pay .20 per gallon difference and you get 20 mpg, it is only .01 cents per mile more so why change, lighten the foot up some and save that way, it is so minimal in the difference
